

To provide Sri Lankan communities in the Eastern Province- in and around Kantale and Trincomalee area including towns, villages and rural communities- who are living in poverty with all year-round access to basic amenities including food, water and essential items for living with quality of life, and outside of the hunger and poverty cycle.
The Village People equips and empowers communities in poverty to become self-sustaining and independent to enable food security and access to essential items including clothing; mobility equipment and aid; gas and fuel; and tools to enable self-sufficiency in smallholdings for food growth.
*For the purpose of clarification, the UN definition of ‘food security’ is “all people, at all times, have physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their food preferences and dietary needs for an active and healthy life.”
